Wanderings: Southern Comfort

Bell Jar-kmsitko

As I write this, it is Mother's Day and my hubby and I are so very far away from our home and our mother's back in Virginia. So we went to this delicious restaurant here in L.A. called Larkin's. If you live in Los Angeles and you need some southern comfort food, Larkin's is the place to call home for a night. Inside this cozy old Craftsman house there are tables made from colorful old doors. And the outside patio area has picnic tables surrounded by lush landscaping, fooling you into believing you are in the heart of the South.

After scarfing down a southern-style biscuit (the closest to a proper biscuit we've had out here in SoCal) and the yummiest sweet potato pie, we had at our disposal homemade sweet tea and lemonade, served in real mason jars! Those jars make me miss my grandmother and her canned corn, green beans and her sublime apple butter!

Being transported back home for the evening made me yearn for more visual reminders of the charming South. As always, the POE collection provides just what I am looking for.

Enjoy y'all!
