Mind's Eye - Stories

I love that, as a viewer, photography allows me to see into the imagination of someone else.  This is particularly the case with manipulated imagery.  Whether altered in the camera or in the darkroom, photographers use specific framing, lighting, and editing to tell their story.  I agree that this is the case with most photography - the subject matter is based on what the photographer chooses; the framing of the photo is most often deliberate.  But with manipulated photography the decisions are often made before seeing a particular subject.  Lighting, layering of images, and additions/subtractions are precise in order to build a story and convey something that can become even more than a photograph.

Here are a few stories to share, enjoy.

"Release" by Zseike

"Mind's Eye", by Anika Toro, is a monthly post focusing on abstract and manipulated photography.  Anika lives in TN with her baby, husband, and two naughty cats.  She loves taking photos every moment of every day.
Anika shares her photography in her shop, on her blog, and invites you to collaborate.

Thank you for the feature. This is a great collection. It is true... I always wonder what goes on in the pre processing. For me, it usually just starts out (as in this one) as a tea cup and then when I go into post processing, I want a story to be told in the image. xoxo

congratulations to all the talented featured artists here ... 'painting my dreams' is an absolute masterpiece of mood, concept and imagination ... 'release' a triumph of symbolism ... 'catching a star' 'reach for the moon' and 'early morning dreams' are beautifully magical ... great idea and technique for 'couples' ... and 'plastic windows' is wonderfully dark, surreal and mysterious ... well done to all

I looove all of these, stunning but somehow beautifully simple examples of digital manipulations of one form or another. I am a big fan of Stephmel, Caryn Drexl and Tia's and am delighted to be discovering the others too! Magical and wonderful.
